    Description

Here you have A WONDERFUL BIT of VINTAGE BABE RUTH MEMORABILIA! Please...SEE THE SCANS! This is THE TRADE OF BABE RUTH featured inside
    a
complete 1919 issue of THE NEW YORK TIMES MID-WEEK PICTORIAL INSERT MAGAZINE!
This includes a photo and caption reporting the trade: “BABE RUTH, THE FAMOUS BASEBALL STAR WHO HAS RECENTLY BEEN PURCHASED BY THE NEW YORK AMERICANS FROM THE BOSTON RED SOX FOR 5,000, LARGEST PRICE EVER PAID FOR A PLAYER. HE MADE 29 HOME RUNS LAST SEASON.” Ruth is shown posing with his bat STILL IN HIS RED SOX UNIFORM. What fascinates me is that this was obviously a good inside journalistic scoop by the NEW YORK TIMES! This report and photo came out earlier than the official (even today) historical date for the Yankees’ announcement of their purchase of the Babe. This magazine is a beautiful photo journal of the news and images of the day throughout the United States and the world. (I’ve included a couple of scans of the coverage of the “Red Scare” raids on foreign communists in the United States.) This is packed with photos of people, places and history being made. The Mid-Week Pictorial measures just over 16 inches X 11 inches which allows for larger photos. Nice articles! Nice Photos! This is a news stand publication. This has typical vintage edge and corner wear. The greatest thing to be aware of is that these were not produced on acid-free paper, so the edges tend to flake. Not mint, but fairly gently read and a very rare! A great historical piece! Take it home with you!
Winner, please add .50 for postage and wonderful packaging.
I am happy to send this to any country. First class international postage will be charged… GOOD LUCK! Please Check Out My Ebay Store For More Memorabilia!
