This is for an original program from June 13 1956 from a game between the Saint Paul Saints of the AAA American Association and the defending World Champions of baseball Brooklyn Dodgers which was played at Lexington Park in St Paul Minnesota. An exceedingly rare program since the team would only average 1,000 fans per game and within 5 years would disband entirely after Major League baseball came to Minnesota and the Twin Cities. All of the Hall of Fame Dodgers are listed on the roster including Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Sandy Koufax, Roy Campanella, Don Drysdale and even manager Walter Alston who had come up through the St Paul organization. The Saints roster could only muster up a few future major leaguers who mainly would be known for their pictures on baseball cards rather than their baseball accomplishments. Players such as Solly Drake, Bob Lillis, Norm Larker, and Roy Hartsfield would be in the majors for a few cups of coffee while pitcher Stan Williams would win 109 games in the majors and catcher Joe Pignatano would enjoy a second career as a third base coach including winning a ring with the Miracle Mets in 1969. I can’t find a score of the game but the fans must have enjoyed watching the World Champion major leaguers taking on their home team Saints. Program is in incredible condition with the date lightly written in pencil on the blank scorecard and includes a separate sheet of paper which was probably inserted in earlier programs to get fans to purchase season tickets to get a chance to watch the Dodgers. A true rarity and a must have for any Dodgers or Saints fan. No collection can be complete without this beauty.Check out the scans and email with any questions.
