    ARTIFACT:
    This is a Portsmouth Fire Department annual parade ribbon from the 16th annual parade on September 18, 1902 for Kearsarge No. 3. The red ribbon has a bar at top reading KEARSARGE 3 and a medallion hanging from a cream-colored ribbon. The medallion reads ALWAYS ON THE ALERT with an intertwined K3 logo.
    VINTAGE:
    Circa 1902.
    SIZE:
    6-3/8” in height and 3” in width.
    CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS:
    Gold-painted aluminum, celluloid, silk ribbon.
    ATTACHMENT:
    Horizontal safety-style pin.
    MARKINGS:
    PAT. OCT 18-92 and RIBBON BADGES FROM GEO. A. SANFORD 23 HAWLEY ST., BOSTON with maker’s mark.
